Friends of CCJ
The Friends are a charity working to support and raise vital funds to support the education of the 300+ children at Christ Church CofE Junior School.
Why the Friends are important
As with many schools, CCJ is finding it a challenge to find the money for essentials such as energy bills and educational resources. The teachers and staff at CCJ work hard to provide the best education possible with the limited resources, and the Friends are increasingly supporting them in this by providing an important source of funding to ensure that the children can have the best opportunities whilst in school.
Where the money goes
Every year, CCJ Friends raise money through events such as, Christmas raffle, school discos, film nights, Easter Egg hunts, Bake offs, Scarecrow Hunt and Smarties Challenge.
As a result, over the years The Friends have been able to raise money to purchase the Clamber Stack, handryers for student toilets, Forest School fire pitt, redesign of The Meadow Room and purchase of new computers for the new ICT Suite!
The Friends committee works closely with Headteacher Mr Huxley and the School Business Manager, Mrs Cleave in order to support the school as best we can. There is aways a long list of projects we are fundraising for to enable us to enhance the children's experience here CCJ.

How can you help?
There are several ways you can help right now:
- Love shopping online? You can support us at the same time for free.
Just sign up to easyfundraising. Every time you shop with your favourite retailers this autumn, they’ll donate to us - not you.
Get to £5 in donations and easyfundraising will boost it to £10:
https://join.easyfundraising.org.uk/friendsofccj/LQOS0C/c2s/MtAb9Haa/EE953/facebook/ - Have you got experience of writing professional documents of any sort? – Bring your skill to the table! we’re actively looking for people to help us bid for funds and need people to fill in forms for us. It won’t all be down to you, we are working with the school and suppliers. We just need a few hours of your time per month and your professional eye.
- Volunteering - speak to us or email Friendsofccj@outlook.com if you would like to help at an event or have ideas to create new experiences.
- Class Reps - We have a representative on each of the Class WhatsApp groups to help ensure all communications are consistent and punctual. We still have a few classes without Reps so please contact us if you can help with this small piece of adhoc admin.
- Match Funding/Corporate social responsibility bullet. Hundreds of Employers offer a Match Funding or grant scheme. This is where you can apply for a grant or donation from your Employer where the amount raised by a Charity (in our case Friends of CCJ) is doubled (or multiplied).
